Hugh Davey Managing Partner


Hugh has been in private practice as a litigator for over 25 years. He trained with City of London firm, Bird & Bird and worked in the City for over 10 years, eventually becoming a Partner. In 1992 he moved his practice to work with one of the largest regional practices in the West Country. For over five years he was a Partner and Head of the Litigation Department at the Taunton office of Clarke Willmott. Hugh is now Managing Partner of Fleet Solicitors LLP, a niche specialist Litigation and Dispute Resolution law firm. He has a varied practice which includes Professional Negligence, Will Disputes, Insurance and Family work. He is recognised in Chambers and Partners as a leading lawyer in the region.

As well as dealing with cases in the County Court and High Court and Arbitrations, many of his cases are resolved by Mediation. Indeed, Hugh is himself, an accredited Mediator. He acts for a wide range of clients from individuals to international insurance companies. He has given evidence in court on behalf of clients.

Hugh regularly writes for a number of professional publications and newspapers. He is a member of the Legal Complaints Services' Negligence Panel, has sat on the Taunton Court Users Committee and is a member of the regional committee of the Professional Negligence Lawyers' Association. Hugh is a member of the Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists and has sat on the Litigation Committee of the Devon and Exeter Law Society.

Hugh lectures on the subjects of litigation and management of legal firms.   This includes internal seminars to clients and staff and externally. He has lectured on  presentation of evidence in court and expert witness training for the well known expert witness trainers,Bond Solon ( now part of CLT) and on a range of subjects for GC Legal Training.

In 2006, Hugh was appointed to the editorial board of the prestigious publication, The Ansbacher Guide to Wealth Management.
